A Tribute to Memory, Art, and Friendship Between Nations
“When culture remembers, nations endure. When art speaks, borders fade.”
— Dr. Leander (Dr. Prashant Madanmohan)
A Celebration of Armenia’s Spirit
The National Day of the Republic of Armenia stands as a solemn yet radiant reminder of a nation that has preserved its identity through resilience, art, and faith. Armenia’s story — from its ancient monasteries to its modern renaissance — is a testament to how memory can withstand centuries of silence and still sing with beauty.
This year, the occasion held special meaning for Dr. Prashant Madanmohan (Dr. Leander) and Mari Poghosyan, who were honoured to present an original painting of the Geghard Monastery to the Ambassador and Consuls of the Republic of Armenia at the official celebration hosted in Chennai.
The event, graciously organized by H.E. Mr. Shiv Kumar Eswaran, Honorary Consul of Armenia in India, was presided over by H.E. Mr. Vahagn Afyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia, alongside H.E. Mr. Marat Melikyan, Consul.
Art as a Living Bridge of Memory
The painting — created by Armenian impressionist artist Mari Poghosyan — depicts the sacred Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site nestled within the cliffs of the Azat River Gorge.
Rendered in her distinctive impressionist style, the work captures both the spiritual serenity and cultural endurance that define Armenian heritage.
Presented under the banner of Cognishift and the Global Cultural Council’s Indo-Armenian Cultural Confluence, the gesture symbolized more than artistic appreciation — it embodied the ongoing dialogue between India and Armenia, two civilizations bound by shared ideals of memory, creativity, and reverence for history.
“Every brushstroke is a prayer — a remembrance that culture itself is divine continuity.”
— Mari Poghosyan
An Indo-Armenian Confluence of Hearts and Minds
As an Indo-Armenian writer-artist duo and founders of the Indo-Armenian Cultural Confluence, Dr. Leander and Mari Poghosyan have dedicated their work to nurturing this living bond through art exhibitions, literary projects, and philosophical dialogue.
Their joint initiatives — including the First Indo-Armenian-French Art & Literary Confluence at Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai — have served as platforms for cultural diplomacy and memory preservation, aligning seamlessly with Cognishift’s broader vision of civilizational dialogue through creativity.
The presentation of the Geghard painting was, therefore, not a gift alone, but a symbolic act of remembrance — an offering of light from one culture to another, affirming that art remains the most powerful language of friendship.
Shared Heritage, Shared Destiny
India and Armenia have long been linked through threads of history — from ancient trade and scholarship to faith and artistic expression.
Today, those threads find new life through creative exchange, intellectual partnership, and human connection.
The warmth extended by the Armenian diplomatic mission in Chennai reflected this enduring friendship, reaffirming that cultural diplomacy begins not in policy, but in people — in artists, thinkers, and dreamers who carry civilizations in their hearts.
“Armenia lives not only in our memories, but in the imagination of every artist who believes that culture can transcend time and distance.”
Toward a Future of Cultural Evolution
As the Cognishift and Global Cultural Council initiatives continue to grow, the Indo-Armenian dialogue they represent stands as a model for how art and philosophy can rebuild bridges in an age of fragmentation.
Through every canvas, every word, and every exchange, a greater unity unfolds — one that belongs not to nations, but to humanity itself.
Armenia lives in our hearts — and in the memory of every artist and thinker who believes in the power of culture to transcend time and distance.
