Lems Nersisyan was born on October 1, 1946, in Shirak (Aygabatz). He graduated from the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute in 1976 and has been participating in national and international exhibitions since 1975. Since 1981, he has been a permanent member of the All-Union (Moscow) and Republican (Yerevan) scientific and methodical councils in the Ministry of Art Education Department.

Lems has contributed to the development of scientific and methodological documents and has participated in international and republican exhibitions, conferences, and consultations. He has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1985, the Artists of Armenia since 1986, and the International Union of Artists since 1995.

From 1988 to 2006, he was in charge of the Faculty of Geharvetsian Education of ASMU, holding responsibilities of the chair of painting. In 1993, he received a scientific doctorate in pedagogical sciences (Moscow) and was awarded the scientific title of professor in 1994. Since 2003, he has been a member of the Creative Union of Artists of the Russian Federation and was awarded honorary degrees of the RA Minister of Culture in 2006, 2008, and 2012.

In 2004, he was elected to the Academy of Education of the Russian Federation as an academician, and in 2006, he was elected the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of ASMU. In the same year, he presided over the Delphian Games in Kyiv, Astana in 2008, and Yerevan in 2012. In 2007, he was awarded the “Catholic of All Armenians Vazgen Arajeen” medal, and in 2008, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of RA. In 2012, he was awarded the “Pedagogical University-90” medal.

Under his leadership, the fine arts course standards and a new system of curricula for art faculties and for students of public schools were created. He developed a modern concept and authored “Fine Art” textbooks for public schools. He has authored more than 1700 pictures, many of which are preserved in private collections in Russia, the USA, France, Iran, Germany, and Armenia. He has authored about 65 scientific works and has participated in many national and international exhibitions, 11 of which are individual. Under his leadership, 29 graduate students and applicants have become candidates of sciences.

He has had numerous individual exhibitions, presenting his works in various countries and prestigious venues, including the European Parliament in Strasbourg and the Charles Aznavour Palace of Culture in Arnoville. His exhibitions have been dedicated to various themes, reflecting his diverse interests and extensive contribution to the field of art.
